Architecture of Perspective

The field of architecture has a language of its own. It is created by combining analysis, drawing, hand craft, engineering, art, physics, geography, philosophy, mathematics… In the course of six days we will try to unravel a part of this language with a specific goal in mind: to better understand our surroundings.

We will focus on three main fields:
– perspective – a little bit of history, what it is and how can we use it to our benefit when drawing or representing objects and spaces?
– experiencing space through physical models – create our own small model of a room/ interior, explore scales and basic modelling materials, make a landscape model with the help of contour lines
– maps, contour lines and 2D representation – understand raster/vector data, read floor plans and have a peek at geographic information system (GIS)

Ať the end, we will also hold a round table where we answer students‘ questions from any topic related to architecture.
The course aims to help understand how we experience space and our surroundings by
trying out different processes used in the field of architecture and translating them to skills applicable in everyday life. It requires no previous experience in the field.

Martina Kesslová

Martina is currently pursuing the field of architecture at Faculty of Arts and Architecture in Liberec (FAA TUL). During her studies she participated at the European Architecture Students Assembly (EASA) in Romania and The UK and spent a semester on Erasmus in France, which brings her joy and motivation to date. She also recently started studying geography. She is very enthusiastic about both. Her favourite pasttimes are playing the piano, sports, hiking and sometimes singing. The most probable place to find her would be a café, drawing or just contemplating everything.
