Audiovisual Art in Practice
Audiovisual art has started occupying more and more public space. This intriguing and contemporary way of expression, however, works with topics that are inherent to its existence and limits of creation. The question thus stands: How do we create audiovisual art and which topics does it allow us to explore?
In this course, we will explore the still very contemporary history of AV art. Who is Ryoji Ikeda, what does his work mean and say? What stands behind „generated art“? We will be talking about artistic research and how to do it. We will explore topics of silence, time, space, repetition, the internet, performativity and more. We will also actively be working on a smaller/shorter piece of art throughout the week, consult it, try out audiovisual creation ourselves.
This course presupposes no prior experience with creation nor analysis of art pieces. Having a smartphone is preferable. If you don’t have access to a smartphone, we will work something out, it’s not a deal breaker.
