EU in a Nutshell

Seemingly far, although it influences our daily lives, the EU is definitely an unidentified political object. But how does it affect us? In which ways?

We will get to understand why there are only 12 stars on the EU flag, why do we use the euro, how do new countries join the Union, and how are EU laws made. We will also get the opportunity to see how the EU affected our continent and the benefits that it brought.

The EU is where we live, and it influences our daily lives, from what we eat to where we can travel and how you can charge your phone. Understanding it is essential to comprehend who we are as European citizens and why is the EU present in every aspect of our lives.

What are we going to do:
– Discover the EU’s founding fathers,
– Simulation of the EU parliament,
– Making our own EU laws,
– Understand how EU laws affect us,
– Who are the actors influencing the EU,
– And see how you can shape the EU!

This course is ideal for high school students interested in politics, history, public policies and the EU in general. You don’t need to have any prior knowledge in politics or the EU, the only requirement is motivation!

Alexandre Marie

Alex is interested in politics and he loves to engage people in political discussions. Just ask him about elections, legislation or history and he will happily answer all your questions! He has been active in a political party for the past few years and even was a candidate for the French parliament. He currently studies European politics in Lille, northern France but he has constantly moved around Europe: he has never lived in the same city for more than 5 years! In order not to feel disoriented while moving this often, he always listened and played music (a big fan of electronic music) and always knew how to make new friends. Alex is more than excited to try to out new things and activites!
