Meri Suonenlahti
Meri is originally from Finland, but has grown up moving around all over the place. She is currently based in Scotland where she is an undergraduate student at the University of Edinburgh, studying at the Edinburgh Futures Institute. With her studies focusing on interdisciplinarity, her academic interests span far and wide, with a particular passion for sustainability and politics. She is very interested in current affairs and won’t hesitate to have a conversation about them! Meri’s motivation for studying abroad began in high school, when she received a full scholarship to complete her high school education in Bosnia-Herzegovina at the United World College. Meri first attended Discover as a student some years ago, and has since been unable to get enough of it! She is very excited to be one of the session coordinators this year together with Sophia and Oliver. Her other interests include learning new languages (she has studied over 8 of them) and is currently on her beginners journey to learning Czech. Outside of academics Meri finds herself busy with several volunteer projects and creative endeavours with amateur theatre and various crocheting attempts.
